School in Session

Vital Information for Parents of Children Enrolled in StoneBridge Christian Preschool

Preschool provides opportunities and experiences of growth for your child. Parents of enrolled children need to read and understand these details and policies. Please contact the director for more information.

School Hours & Days

9:00am – All daily preschool sessions begin. Parents and children are not to enter the building before 8:50am.

11:30am – All classes end.

Classes run for a nine month school year (September to May). Parents are notified of holidays and vacation days in advance in a monthly parent newsletter.

School Cancellations

We will follow Omaha Public Schools’ decisions regarding cancellation due to inclement weather, with the exception of “heat days”. Our building is fully air conditioned and we will proceed with classes on “heat days”.

Attendance, Tardiness and Illness

Parents are responsible to deliver and pick up their children to the preschool on time.  Chronic tardiness when dropping off or picking up your child affects not only the late child but the class and staff as well and may jeopardize your child’s enrollment in the preschool.

Illnesses

Children with any of the following conditions should be kept home until the condition has been gone for at least 24 hours:

-fever              -sore throat                 -red or mattering eye

-vomiting         -diarrhea                     -skin rash

Dropping Off and Picking Up Children

The south doors on the east side (lower level) of the building should be used when dropping off and picking up children.

The doors will not be open prior to 8:50am.

Parents are not to use the church office entrance to drop off or pick up.

Please do not park in the handicapped parking spaces!

When picking up your child please wait by the classrooms in the hallway. Teachers will dismiss from the classroom. When a person not on your original authorized pick up list will be picking up your child, please send a signed note stating their name and phone number as your permission for pick up. Please have this person bring a photo ID so we can verify that this person is to pick up your child.

Teacher Communication

The children bring home a parent newsletter each month. It will list important events for the month.

Progress reports are sent home twice a year to the parents of 3, 4, and 5 year olds.

Progress reports are sent home at the end of the year to the parents of 2 year olds.

Conferences are held at a parent’s request.  Parents should feel free to call on their child’s teacher any time they have a question or concern.

Show and Tell

Show and Tell is a time for the children to learn to take turns and share something with their classmates.  A special show and tell bag will be sent home with your child when it is their turn.  Children are encouraged to bring one special item from home on that day.

Snacks

The preschool provides a nutritious snack each day.  Parents should alert their child’s teacher to any food allergies that their child may have.

Children may provide a special snack for the class on their birthday.

Parents should make treat arrangements with their child’s teacher.

Supplies

On the first day of school, each child is required to bring:

  • 1 — box of crayons (4 yr olds - 24 ct; 2 & 3 yr olds - 8 ct Big)
  • 1 — 8 ct washable markers (primary colors only)
  • 4 — glue sticks
  • 1 — set of watercolor paints

Lost and Found

The preschool is not responsible for lost clothing or personal items.

However, we maintain a Lost and Found box and every effort is made to locate lost clothing or personal items. Parents should be sure to label all of their child’s belongings.

Visitors

Parents are welcome to visit the school at any time.  Special invitations will be sent home for programs and parties throughout the year.

Parent Volunteers at Preschool

Parent volunteers are vital assistants when extra help is needed. Parents are welcome to volunteer in areas such as: substitute teaching or teacher’s aide, providing transportation and supervision on field trips, helping with special parties or activities during class time, video taping and photography. Parents with special talents or skills in music or from their profession could share aspects of their talents or work with the children.
