Imagine2 FAQ

FAQ: Imagine2 – multiplying the impact

Q. Why are we beginning a building campaign?

A. Stonebridge Christian Church is committed to reaching the Omaha metro area for God by sharing Christ and by building believers. We are entering a new phase because of the amazing way God has grown the ministry of StoneBridge. We have been growing about ten percent each year. This growth is challenging the capacity of our church building, and to meet this challenge, we need to expand our facilities to create more opportunities to reach people for Christ.

Q. What do we hope to accomplish?

A. We believe that this expansion will accomplish three purposes:

A more secure children’s ministries area – This expansion provides parents with one direct and secure check-in center for dropping off and picking up children. The children’s ministry hallways will no longer serve as the main access to the facility from the east parking lot.

A new entrance – This new atrium will “turn our building around” so that it faces the community. It will allow more direct access to the worship center and shapes the design for future building expansion.

A 200 seat alternate venue – The two-story expansion will have live music and video feeds from the worship center. The coffee house feel will offer a different opportunity for families in worship.

Q. Why are we building?

A. We are building to accommodate growth in our church, to better position our facility for the community, and to set the foundation for further building phases.

Q. What will we gain from this campaign?

A. The construction of this expansion will provide 3400 square feet of space for worship in an alternate venue as well as flexible space for church, family and community gatherings. Throughout the week the space can be used by student ministries, small groups or simply serve as a place to spend time with friends while children play in the new play area.

Q. How much will this project cost?

A. The approximate cost of this expansion will be 1.5 million dollars.

Q. Have previous building campaigns been successful?

A. The Imagine a Place campaign ran from 2003 to 2006. Through faithful and sacrificial participation by the church family, $2.1 million was committed, resulting in the purchase of the current property, which has become home to more than 1,200 people each week.

Q.   Why build now?

A.  Our current facility is at its maximum capacity. We need additional space to continue our current pattern of growth and ministry.

Q.  When do we start the construction?

A.  Assuming our campaign goal is met, we will break ground in the fall of this year.

Q. When is the project to be completed?

A. Our builder estimates 6 to 12 months will be needed to complete the expansion.

Q.  What will happen to the children’s play area with this expansion?

A.  It will be relocated to another part of the building.

Q. How will the money be used?

A. The money we raise will fund this new expansion. Funds raised beyond the set goal will be used for additional parking, remodeling in the children’s area or paying down the current mortgage.

Q.  Will I be asked for a commitment publicly?

A.  No, nor will your individual commitment be announced.

Q.  Exactly how often will I be asked to give my commitment?

A. You may make commitments that will be given on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis over a three-year giving period.

Q.  How do we make our gifts?

A.  You may make your gift by check designated “Building Fund” on the memo line. You may also designate part of one check by noting the amount for the building fund on the memo line. Another way to make gifts is to give online at www.stonebridgeonline.net. Follow the Online Giving tab, log in and then select the “Building Fund”. You may make gifts as one time donations or set up a reoccurring gift to the building fund.

Q.  When do commitments start?

A.  We begin giving toward our commitments on Celebration Sunday, April 11, 2010.

Q.  Is this commitment in addition to my regular yearly church stewardship?

A.  Yes, the building program is over and above your regular giving.

Q.  What do you mean by “not equal giving, but equal sacrifice”?

A.  We believe it is very clear that not everyone can give a gift of $10,000 or more for our campaign.  But if everyone sacrificed a portion of their lifestyle in order to meet the spiritual needs of others, God can use our sacrifice to multiply our ability to share Christ and build believers.

Q.  Will I have the opportunity to revise my commitment?

A.  Yes, you may revise your commitment, either up or down, at any time during the three-year giving period.
